How CBD Can Improve Your Mental Health

Cannabis and psychosis: a brief overview
After decades of research on whether or not THC triggers mental illnesses such as psychosis, scientists have revealed that most people with psychosis disorders feel the same euphoric “high” that anyone feels. However, while there are many contributing factors to consider, it’s possible that THC could exaggerate symptoms (especially when consumed at high doses), and that users with psychosis may be more sensitive to THC and are more likely to feel extreme ups and downs with consumption.
What does this mean for CBD users?
CBD (cannabidiol) is a chemical compound found in the cannabis plant (usually the stem, flower and seeds). It contains NO tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), therefore it is 100% anti-psychoactive and can NOT get you high.
CBD on its own doesn’t interact with the amygdala (the part of your brain involved with how you process and express emotions – especially fear and anger), which means increased psychosis is nothing to worry about when taking CBD.
So, how can CBD help my mental health?
CBD helps regulate and optimize the release of some of the most crucial neurotransmitters (a substance that sends nerve impulses) throughout our brain and body—neurotransmitters that our emotions, mood and mental clarity depend on.
More specifically, CBD helps control the release of neurotransmitters like serotonin, dopamine and glutamate.
